Upgrades
Is your computer running slowly? Are you getting out of memory errors? Is your computer so crammed full of stuff that you can't fit anything else on it? If so, then a hardware upgrade might be your best option. Many people think that their computers are slow because they need more ram or because it's a few years old. In reality however, many people upgrade their hardware when they really don't need to! Consider the following before choosing to upgrade your hardware:

When Was the Last Time You Had a Tuneup or Formatted Your Computer?

Many problems with slowness come from the computer just needing some regular and simple maintenance. I'd say that 70% of the people that come to me for upgrades just need a tuneup. It is recommended that you format your computer every 6-12 months. A format erases everything from your computer and only puts back on the absolute essentials that you need. This typically cases a DRASTIC improvement in system performance, especially if it hasn't ever been done before. A simple tuneup with tweaks can make a world of difference too. Feel free to call me for a FREE over-the-phone diagnosis. I'll let you know exactly what you need.

How Much Stuff Is On the Computer?

When a hard drive gets 50% full, it drastically slows down your computer. If you have a lot of information on your computer, it can really slow it down. The best solution to this is to simply format your computer and get an external hard drive to store all of your information. Another benefit of having an external hard drive is that your data will remain safe if your computer crashes. External hard drives can be found at all major retailers such as Wal*Mart and Target, as well as other technology places and online. If you can get an external hard drive online, do it. Online prices for external hard drives are SIGNIFICANTLY lower than in-store prices.

Are You Infected With Viruses & Other Forms of Malware?

Viruses and other forms of malware may cause performance problems. A lot of the time, viruses can be the source of all your problems. I'll let you know if you're infected during the diagnosis.

What Are You Trying to Do?

Another thing to consider before doing a hardware upgrade is to ask yourself what you do on it. If you want to play the latest games, make sure your computer is even capable of handling the required hardware. Feel free to call me and I'll let you know if your computer is capable of doing what you want it to do. If it isn't, I'll recommend either a hardware upgrade or a trade-in for a different computer.
